GET $15 OFF TRADINGVIEW

TradingView is the most widely used charting platform in retail trading, and for a lot of traders it is the first tool they open every morning and the last one they close at night. It runs in the browser, on desktop, and on mobile, with every layout, watchlist, and alert synced between them. There is a genuinely useful free plan, four paid tiers, and a separate market data layer that most reviews skip entirely.

This review covers what TradingView actually does, what every plan costs at checkout, what the real-time data add-ons cost on top, and which traders can stay on the free plan without missing anything. If you just want the discount, the current offer is in the box above, and you can jump back to it any time from the pricing section.

What TradingView Does

At its core TradingView is a charting and analysis platform, not a broker. You get candlestick, bar, line, and more exotic chart types across stocks, futures, forex, crypto, indices, and bonds, with more than 400 built-in indicators and over 100,000 community-published ones. The drawing toolset covers everything from basic trendlines to full Fibonacci and Gann suites.

Four features do most of the heavy lifting for active traders:

  • Alerts. Price alerts, indicator alerts, and drawing-based alerts are processed server-side, so they fire even when your computer is off. Higher plans add multi-condition alerts and webhook notifications, which is what most automated setups are built on.
  • Pine Script. TradingView’s own scripting language lets you build custom indicators and strategies, backtest them against historical data, and publish them publicly or as invite-only scripts.
  • Screeners. Stock, ETF, crypto, and DEX screeners with hundreds of fundamental and technical fields, plus the Pine Screener for running your own scripts across a watchlist.
  • Bar Replay. Step through historical price action bar by bar to practice setups. Paid plans extend how far back replay works, and higher tiers add replay on intraday data.

There is also simulated paper trading on every plan, an economic calendar, earnings data, and a social layer where traders publish ideas and scripts. The social feed is a mixed bag and no substitute for your own analysis, but the script library alone is worth the account.

You can also trade live through the platform. TradingView connects to a list of supported brokers, including futures brokers popular with prop traders, so the same chart you analyze on is the one you execute from.

TradingView Plans

There are five tiers. Basic is free forever and does not ask for a card. Essential, Plus, Premium, and Ultimate stack progressively more charts per tab, more indicators per chart, more alerts, deeper history, and faster data.

The honest read on the tiers:

  • Basic is enough to learn on. One chart per tab, two indicators, three alerts, and ads. Plenty of traders use it for years.
  • Essential removes ads and covers a single-market swing trader: two charts per tab, five indicators, 20 alerts.
  • Plus is the sweet spot for most active traders: four charts per tab, ten indicators, 100 alerts, and chart data export.
  • Premium is where the serious features unlock: second-based intervals, alerts that never expire, invite-only script publishing, 400 alerts, and 20K bars of history. Most full-time traders land here.
  • Ultimate exists for the traders who need tick charts, 16 charts per tab, 1,000 alerts, and 40K bars, and it is the only plan available to users who qualify as professionals.

TradingView Pricing

Retail pricing is the same for everyone and there are no rotating coupon codes to chase. The only variables are your billing cycle and the sign-up discount at the top of this page.

Monthly billing runs $14.95 for Essential, $34.95 for Plus, $69.95 for Premium, and $239.95 for Ultimate. Switching to annual billing drops those to $12.95, $29.95, $59.95, and $199.95 per month, a saving of up to 17 percent.

Every paid plan starts with a free trial, 30 days on Essential through Premium and 14 days on Ultimate, with nothing charged upfront. Two policy details worth knowing before you subscribe: refunds are only available on annual plans and only within 14 days of payment, monthly plans are non-refundable even same-day, and sales tax can be added at checkout depending on where you live.  If able to wait, TradingView has deep discounts during their Black Friday Sales in November.

New accounts created through our link also gett $15 off the first month of any paid plan, applied automatically with no code.

The Real Cost: Market Data Add-Ons

This is the part of TradingView pricing that surprises people. Your subscription buys the platform, not real-time exchange data. Delayed data is free on every plan, typically 10 to 20 minutes behind, and for many markets, including most crypto and forex feeds, real-time is already included. But real-time data from the major US exchanges is a separate per-exchange add-on, and you need a paid plan or an active trial before you can buy it.

The good news is that the non-professional rates are cheap. The US Stock Markets bundle covers NYSE, NASDAQ, NYSE Arca, and OTC for $9.95 per month. Real-time CME Group futures data, which includes the E-mini and Micro contracts this site’s readers actually trade, is $7.00 per month and covers CME, CBOT, COMEX, and NYMEX in one purchase.

Traders who touch European contracts are covered even more cheaply: the Eurex futures bundle, which spans the largest European derivatives exchange, is $2.00 per month.

So a futures trader running Plus on annual billing with real-time CME data pays about $37 per month all-in. That is a fraction of what comparable standalone data setups cost, and it is worth knowing before you assume the sticker price is the whole story.

The caveat is the professional classification. If you qualify as a professional user, the exchange fees jump dramatically per feed, and Ultimate is the only subscription tier open to you. If you trade your own personal account and are not registered with a financial authority, you will almost certainly count as non-professional, but check TradingView’s definition if you are unsure.

Lower tiers also cap how many data subscriptions you can hold at once: two on Essential, four on Plus, and six on Premium.

TradingView for Futures Prop Traders

Most readers of this site are trading funded futures accounts, so here is where TradingView fits. The standard setup is TradingView for charting and analysis alongside whatever execution platform your prop firm provides. The $7 CME data add-on gives you real-time E-mini and Micro charts, server-side alerts on your levels, and Bar Replay for reviewing sessions, all independent of your funded account’s platform.

Several firms and brokers in the futures space also support trading through TradingView directly via supported broker connections, and webhook alerts on Premium and Ultimate are the backbone of many semi-automated futures workflows. Check your specific firm’s platform list before assuming connectivity, because prop firm platform support changes frequently and is set by the firm, not by TradingView.

Advantages

  • Free forever plan with no card required, genuinely usable for learning and casual charting
  • 30-day free trials on Essential, Plus, and Premium, so you can test the exact tier you are considering
  • $15 off the first month through our link, applied automatically
  • Non-professional market data is cheap: $7 per month for real-time CME futures, $9.95 for the full US stocks bundle
  • Everything syncs across web, desktop, and mobile, and alerts run server-side so they fire with your machine off
  • Pine Script plus a library of over 100,000 community indicators and strategies
  • Bar Replay and free paper trading on every plan
  • Direct trading through supported brokers, including futures brokers
  • Annual billing saves up to 17 percent, and annual upgrades convert your remaining days to the new tier

Considerations

  • Real-time data from US exchanges is never included in the subscription price; budget the add-on into your monthly cost
  • Monthly plans are non-refundable, even if you cancel the same day you pay. Only annual plans carry a refund window, and only for 14 days
  • Alerts expire after one to two months on Basic, Essential, and Plus. Alerts that never expire require Premium
  • The jump from Premium to Ultimate is steep, from $69.95 to $239.95 monthly, and most of what Ultimate adds only matters for tick-chart traders and very large workspaces
  • Traders who qualify as professionals face far higher exchange data fees and can only subscribe to Ultimate
  • Watchlist alerts do not exist below Premium, and data subscription slots are capped on lower tiers
  • Sales tax can be added at checkout depending on your location, so the advertised price is not always the final price
  • The social ideas feed is noisy; treat it as entertainment, not signal

Conclusion: Is TradingView Worth It?

TradingView earns its place on our trading tools list by being the rare platform where the free tier is honestly useful and the paid tiers are priced against real limits you will actually hit, not artificial paywalls. Start on Basic or a 30-day trial, and upgrade the day you run out of indicators, charts, or alerts, because you will know exactly which limit you hit and which tier fixes it.

For the futures traders this site is written for, the practical combination is Plus or Premium with the $7 CME real-time data add-on, which delivers professional-grade charting and alerting for less than most traders spend on a single evaluation reset. Just go in knowing the full cost structure: subscription, data add-on, and the refund policy on whichever billing cycle you pick.

If you are ready to try it, grab the $15 first-month discount at the top of this page. It applies to any paid plan and there is no code to enter.

How We Determine The Best Firms

how we review

In our comprehensive reviews of proprietary trading firms, we evaluate a wide range of factors to provide traders with a complete picture. We start by examining the company’s background, including its founding, leadership, and overall reputation in the industry. We then delve into the account types and sizes offered, along with the specific evaluation processes and trading conditions.

This includes analyzing profit targets, drawdown rules, and any restrictions on trading hours or instruments. We closely examine the profit-splitting structure, payout speeds, and withdrawal policies, as well as any commissions charged.  The pricing model for both evaluation and funded accounts is scrutinized, including any additional fees for data feeds or platforms. We assess the trading platforms supported, any educational resources provided, and the quality of customer support. Scaling opportunities and unique features that set each firm apart are highlighted.

We also consider the overall user experience, the company’s transparency in its rules and risk disclosures, and the firm’s reputation among traders, often referencing Trustpilot scores or other review aggregators.

Our reviews aim to give traders a thorough understanding of what each prop firm offers, enabling them to make informed decisions based on their individual trading needs and preferences.
